Deze cursus behandelt de geavanceerde besturingsmethoden van elektrische aandrijvingen voor de meest voorkomende soorten elektrische machines: gelijkstroom (DC) inductiemotoren (IM), synchrone motoren (SM) en permanente magneetloze borstelmotoren (PMBLDC).
Het betreft een master collegeserie van de Technische Universiteit, speciaal opengesteld voor cursisten van PAO Techniek en Management. Je volgt de colleges samen met reguliere studenten.

The course presents the advanced control methods of electric drives for the most common types of electric machines: Direct current (DC) motors, Induction motors (IM), Synchronous motors (SM) and Permanent Magnet Brushless DC (PMBLDC) motors. The multilevel structure of the control system with electric machines is explained in a consequent‐iterative way. It starts with brief revision of the basic operating principles of electric machines. Next, the mathematical modeling of the transient processes in electric machines by means of systems of ordinary differential equations (ODE) is presented using the reference‐frame theory (d‐q Park transformation). The obtained mathematical models of the electric machines further serve as a basic for the high‐performance field‐oriented control (FOC) methods.
The motor control theory is accompanied with corresponding voltage and current control methods of power electronic converter via the pulse‐ width modulation (PWM) and space‐vector modulation (SVM) techniques. With the aim to reflect inherent integrity of an electromechanical system, the electric machines, control systems and power electronic converters are represented as parts of a global dynamic system rather than stand‐along components. The presented during the lectures theory and mathematical models are extensively illustrated via the practical assignments related to their implementation within MATLAB/Simulink environment. This would allow instantly visualize the role of the electric drive in the system as well as to compare the performance of their different types.
The goal of the course is the transfer of knowledge and understanding of the fundamentals of control methods of electric machines and drives as well as their role in the hierarchy of global control systems. The students will be able to describe the transient behavior of the different types of electric machines by means of the systems of ordinary differential equations (ODE) with their further application to the system analysis and dedicated control synthesis. The obtained theoretical knowledge together with practical (MATLAB/Simulink modelling) experience would play an essential role in understanding of the integration and linking of the electric machines theory with control system theory.
Use of a notebook with Matlab/Simulink is compulsory.
