The objective of this course is to introduce the necessary knowledge for a more advanced analysis of power electronic components and systems beyond a basic background. The student will learn how to quantify the ideal behavior, and how to deal with some practical limitations of representative power switching circuits by means of manual calculations and computer simulations. Furthermore, lectures and exercises thoroughly discuss key subjects of power electronics that are important with respect to a practical realization and optimization of a power electronic system, e.g. how to select suitable power components, how to determine switching losses, calculation of high frequency losses, EMI filter design and realization, thermal considerations, etc.
This master lecture series is open to participants PAO Techniek en Management. Regular students of the TU will attend the lecture series too. The lectures will be taught in English.
