During this course you will learn how parametric design helps you easily design complex structures.

Principles and possibilities of parametric design

Parametric design helps you design structures that can be easily modified, even in the later stages of the design process. Parametric design is an intuitive way for you to automate your own work.

You can use project specific data to automate your design process and workflow, perform calculations, and optimize your solutions. The possibilities with parametric design are ever increasing, and it has already been widely adopted throughout the engineering sector.

In this course you will be introduced hands-on to the software, Grasshopper3D, and you will become familiar with the overall software landscape surrounding parametric design, gaining practical experience on how to accelerate design and engineering tasks using state-of-the-art tools.

Automating your own workflow

The following topics are covered in the course:

  • Introduction to the basic and advanced principles of parametric design
  • Rapid prototyping and testing
  • Discussion of the possibilities of parametric design in your own work and organization
  • Best practices of parametric design
  • Practical examples from the construction industry
  • Linking parametric design software with the most predominant software in the construction industry, such as SCIA, Excel, BIM software (Tekla, Revit & IFC) and Karamba3D.
  • Best practices van parametrisch ontwerpen voor jouw organisatie
  • Met praktische voorbeelden voor de bouw
