Insight into principles, characteristics and backgrounds of electric drives
The aim of this course is to understand the basic principles of electrification of powertrains and key components. Get a good overview of the operating principle, features and background of the most important facets.
Content
- Roles and applications of electric drives and DC motor drives.
- Feedback controller design for DC drives.
- AC motor drives: rotating fields in AC machines using space vectors.
- Sinusoidal permanent magnet and induction AC motor drives.
- Switched reluctance drives
Result
The goal is to understand the basic principles of electric drives.
- Understand how electric drives work and can do this through manual calculations.
- Understand how to calculate electrical voltages, currents and mechanical forces, torques and (angular) displacements.
- Good overview of the operating principle, characteristics and application of the four most important rotating electrical machines: direct current, induction, synchronous and switched reluctance machines.
This is a master lecture series from the Technical University, especially open to students of PAO Technology and Management. You attend the lectures together with regular students. The lectures will be taught in English.
