Leadership and influencing people are intertwined. Winning people over to your side requires the power of persuasion. What is essential in this skill is the ability to build relationships and to connect with the way that other people communicate. In this course you will increase your influence and make a bigger difference as a professional and as a leader by who you are.
Influencing without power is an actual theme. Increasingly, we are working in matrix organizations, networks and virtual teams. Hierarchy is receding to the background. There is continually more required of your personal skills. You know exactly where you want to get on a technical level, but what do you need to do to convince the stakeholders both within and outside of the organization?
You would like to gain a better insight into the interests of your stakeholders. You would also like to learn how to build stronger relationships and how to maintain them. Linking with and connecting to the needs and styles of other people will support you in this.
How do you gain more influence without using your authority?
At the end of this module you will:
- Be able to bring the interests of your professional relationships within your own work context into view.
- Become aware of where the potential tension lies and how you can make a positive influence on that.
- Become more aware of though patterns and communication between people.
- Become more aware of the impact your style of communication has on others.
- Become more able to take the other person into account, and thereby, switch to a different communication style more easily.
