Forensic Engineering: a completely new course
Later this year, PAOTM will be launching the brand-new course Forensic Engineering, a strong example of how the need for specific expertise can lead to a completely new program. At the Rijksvastgoedbedrijf, where damage to older structures is a recurring issue, there was a growing need for deeper knowledge about construction damage. Such cases often require thorough analysis of structures, materials, and failure mechanisms. PAOTM took up the challenge and, in close cooperation with the knowledge requester and a TNO expert, developed this entirely new course. The strong enrollment numbers for its first edition confirm the broader demand and show that the course truly meets a pressing need.

Foundation Research: responding to market demand Another great example is the Praktijkcursus Funderingsonderzoek, which emerged from the Aanpak Funderingsproblematiek program. Evaluations and signals from the KCAF (Knowledge Center for Foundation Problems) revealed a strong demand for in-depth expertise in this area. Together with partners, PAOTM developed a hands-on program, which we offer since this year.

Hydraulic Fill Manual: dredging companies join forces
Knowledge questions are not limited to individuals - entire sectors can raise them as well. The Hydraulic Fill Manual course was developed after consultations with four major dredging companies. Boskalis took the initiative and brought experts from across the sector together. The result: a widely supported course that directly contributes to the professionalization of the dredging industry. This program will be soon available.

Grasshopper & AI: addressing new technologies
Innovation continuously brings new themes to the surface. The Grasshopper & AI course was created following PAOTM’s customer research and feedback from professionals. There was a clear interest in learning how parametric design and artificial intelligence can reinforce one another. PAOTM translated this demand into a course that anticipates current digital developments.
